Josh Selby's mother, Maeshon Witherspoon, told TheShiver.com on Thursday that her son will not return to Kansas. Presumably, that means Selby will enter the NBA Draft, but it's unclear from the report whether transferring out of the program to another school, perhaps a junior college, is also an option.
TheShiver.com is a website dedicated to covering Kansas athletics.
Selby was a consensus top-five national recruit and projected lottery pick coming out of high school but struggled in his freshman year. The 6-foot-2 combo guard averaged only 7.9 points per game after serving a nine-game NCAA-suspension for accepting improper benefits. Bill Self played Selby an average of just 11.7 minutes per game in the final nine games of the season.
Selby is now considered a borderline first-round pick.
The NBA Draft is June 26.
