Michigan State junior Korie Lucious has been dismissed from the Spartans basketball team for the remainder of the season, coach Tom Izzo announced late Tuesday.

"Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program," Izzo said. "My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”

It's unclear whether Lucious might be allowed to return next season.

He, like Izzo, released a statement Tuesday night.

“I didn’t live up to the standards of the program," Lucious said. "Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season."

Lucious was averaging 6.5 points and 4.1 assists for the 25th-ranked Spartans.

Michigan State plays Michigan on Thursday at the Breslin Center.

He had to do something really bad for him to get kicked off of the team.  Izzo is a players coach and love his kids, and you can tell that he cares about them during the game.  I wish MSU the best of luck the rest of the season,  this might bring the team together and more hustle.  The bottom line, all team has standards and must be followed.   Izzo might want to have Magic Johnson come in and give the team a pep talk.

On the contrary, my malevolently pessisimistic friend,
Poetry. Absolute poetry my articulate friend. Other than that Izzo will have them ready again, as always.

MSU's Lucious dismissed for rest of season

This team has the 3rd toughest strength of schedule.  Take a look at who they have lost to and which conference they are in.  The Big Ten is clearly one of the 2 best conferences this year and chances are a few of the teams they have lost to will be in the final four this year.  I agree that this is not the same team that MSU has had in years past, but they are certainly one of the 25 best teams in the country. Record doesn't mean everything.  In 2000 when they won the title they had 7 losses that year but again they played a tough schedule to prepare them for the tournament.  Obviously the way that Izzo runs this program works because he prepares his teams for the big picture which is why they've made 6 final fours in 12 years.

its because people are waiting for them to make their usual end of the season run so they can still be in the top 15 by the end of the season. unless they are really the bad team this year. If you look at who they lost to though those teams don't have many slouches in them.

I don't really understand how they are still ranked in the top 25 either.  They've only beaten two good teams and both were at home ( minnesota, Wisconsin).  They've lost a total of 7 games.  I just don't understand how a team can still be ranked and only be 12-7, oh wait i know how.  Their name is michigan state.  I mean msu could go 0-30 and still be ranked.

This is a bad year for  MSU and they're still ranked in the top 25.

Lucious is a real loss with Kalin Lucas unable to fully heal from last year's injury.  Lucious may be gone but Izzo is going nowhere.  He is up there with Coach K in reputation.  And the deal he has in East Lansing is matched only by Joe Paterno at Penn State. Tom can stay as long as he wants.  How many schools do you know that have gone to the Final Four in six of the past 12 years?  The man is not replaceable.

I think you better know your college ball a bit better before you post on this site.  Izzo has been a major factor in the tournament for years and years.  Granted he hasn't had big name post men, but his teams play great basketball and perform come tourney time.
