Grassroots Canada coach Ro Russell told CBSSports.com early Monday that former Minnesota guard Devoe Joseph will enroll at Oregon and be eligible to play for the Ducks next December provided he remains academically eligible.

Russell is Joseph's former summer coach.

Joseph averaged 11.2 points in eight games for Minnesota this season but recently announced his desire to transfer after missing part of the schedule because of a suspension stemming from a violation of team rules. The 6-foot-4 junior should have three semesters of eligibility remaining.

Before you go running your mouth too much, dkh-fl, you might want to see the other article currently on CBSSports.com about the University of Washington being aware of a criminal investigation into one of it's student-athletes.  Otherwise, both you and the Washington AD may be eating crow.

I guess I'm going to side with the University of Washington AD and just come right out and say it... Oregon is quickly turning into the SEC of the Pacific Northwest.  No academic standards, criminals/players and they don't seem to turn down any kid regardless of his background as long as he has substantial talent.  I feel bad for teams like Stanford, Cal, etc attempting to compete with this facade.  Congratulations Phil Night... you got a winner... of course, you had to wh*re out the entire university to get there but at least you got your winner.

Actually, I would agree that it's on him. Royce White was caught stealing pants at some store in the mall, and also was in the discussion for a stolen laptop on campus. He then transferred because he felt like it was better for him and his family for him to leave his situation at Minnesota. Doesn't really have anything to do with Tubby. Paul Carter transferred because of family issues as well, he wanted to be closer to his sister or something who has medical concerns from what I understood from the newspaper article about his transfer. It totally speaks to Paul Carter's good character about wanting to support his family, and I respect him for that immensely. But, for the sake of this argument, it has nothing to do with Tubby Smith. Devoe Joseph has been having academic issues this season, and kudos to Tubby Smith for holding to a certain standard. As a coach you need to have consistent rules&nbs
p;and punishments in order to lead a disciplined team, if Devoe had a problem with that, then too bad. Al Nolen has had academic issues too in his tenure at MN, yet he worked them out and is now having a good season for us, you didn't see him transfer when he was punished for his grades. I don't know anything about Cobbs' transfer, don't really care, either. And like you said, Mbakwe "nearly" transferred, but didn't, so you cannot use him for your completely uneducated post. Tubby&nb
sp;may have strict rules, ones that I personally don't know in their entirety, but as long as he is consistent that is fine with me. Especially if he shows this much concern with education, that should be respected. So if Devoe left because of team rules' disputes, although I don't know the whole story, I have to believe that it is definitely more on him than it is on Tubby.

"If he has trouble playing for Tubby Smith its on him." - Baloney!
Royce White, Paul Carter, Justin Cobbs, Devoe Joseph, and nearly Trevor Mbakwe transfer from Minn
Michael Bradley, Ryan Hogan, Desmond Allison, Myron Anthony, Nate Knight, Marvin Stone, Cory Sears, Jason Parker, Rashaad Carruth, Adam Chiles, Bernard Cote (just to name a few) transfer from Kentucky and that doesn't include all the players who left early<strong style="background-color: #a0ffff; color: black;"> for the draft.... <strong style="background-color: #a0ffff; color: black;"> <strong style="background-color: #a0ffff; color: black;"> <strong style="background-color: #a0ffff; color: black;">

Devoe Joseph is a talented prima-donna .If he has trouble playing for Tubby Smith its on him  .Truth be told, he couldnt hack it academically in the Big Ten.
