Former McDonald's All-American Jelan Kendrick is transferring from Memphis to Ole Miss, a source close to the situation told CBSSports.com on Thursday.

An official announcement is expected shortly.

Kendrick will enroll in cla in Oxford next month.

Kendrick was one of the prizes of Josh Pastner's recruiting class but struggled at Memphis almost from the moment he enrolled. He fought a teammate in June and seriously threatened another during preseason workouts. He was suspended, then reinstated and essentially dismissed from the program without ever playing in a regular season game. The 6-foot-6 wing also considered Georgia Tech and West Virginia. He'll be eligible at Ole Miss next December.

I don't think you got my point... other than being responsible for the 9/11 attacks, and I'm not even sure about that one, is there any level of misdeed in which the SEC would declare a (good) player ineligible?  Like I said, a two-time convicted felon wasn't enough.  To hit or threaten your teammates isn't enough.  Previous indescretions with drugs/firearms/arrests isn't enough.  I mean what is "bottom" level in which it will go --- I'm thinking it must be murder because everything else seems to be in play.

Follow Kendrick on Twitter @ -

Whatever this kid went through he spoke well of our university and our fans throughout the entire thing and never used a public forum to air his laundry... I think it shows tremendous maturity despite whatever immaturity he's going through.

"WHAT COULD ONE POSSIBLY DO/COMMIT IN ORDER NOT TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR TRANSFER INTO THE SEC?  I'm being serious.  Two felonies from Masoli didn't do it."

here are the differences -

Kendrick

must sit out cause he has played this year for the Tigers - this is pretty typics of a transfer year. -  besides the kids confrontation there is nothing i know of - Follow him on twitter he's very well spoken (read not a whole of slang) - and i think Ole Miss will be a good fit.

Masoli
was eligible becuase he had already graduated and was enrolling in graduate school in a degree Oregon did not have. hence the loophole for immediate elegibility

thanks

Didn't Ole Miss cease being relevant in the 60's after the Civil rights movement?

Didn't Memphis cease being relevant on teh basketball scene the second Coach Cal slimed his way up to Kentucky and took all of your cheating thugs with him.   Well...clearly not ALL of your cheating thugs.   Ole Miss just acquired one of them.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you're an ole miss fan and probably pay more attention to football than basketball but like you said Cal is gone and he took his thugs, but we got plenty of thugs here.Wink Pastner has done a great job recruiting the local talent here.  And if you check rivals you'll see that Memphis highschools have at least one top 25 player for the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and I think even 2014.  Pastner has already done a good job of keeping the best Memphis kids home so far.  If he keeps it up Memphis will be good for a long time.

You were joking here right. We all know there is no such thing as a Ole Miss basketball fan. And as far as the TAD PAD aka White Station Junior High is a joke as well. Maybe he will fill confortable with the 300 to 500 fans every night.
