Boston College assistant Bonzie Colson shoved a Florida State pep band member and cursed at him before Sunday's loss at FSU, according to a report taken by an off-duty trooper working the game. The Florida State University Police Department is investigating the alleged incident.

It was first reported by Tallahassee.com.

"I ... was exiting the basketball court and found myself stuck between the media table and the basketball team," the student stated in writing, according to Tallahassee.com. "A coach was in my way ... I looked at him and said, ‘excuse me.’ He took his hands, one on each of my shoulders, and shoved me by him."

The student said Colson then told him, "Get the (expletive) off my court." Two other students submitted statements supporting the band member’s story, according to Tallahassee.com.

BC officials are aware of the report, which was forwarded to the FSUPD.

Maj. Jim Russell told Tallahassee.com the incident is being investigated as a possible battery.

This is absurd. The band member is throwing a fit for no reason.  I am sure he is too used to lubing up his and others' trumbones and has never played a sport or had physical contact in his life.  Moving someone aside so you don't run them over is different than shoving someone.  I have been walking down the street and had to put two hands on someone that was in my way, and if I hadn't I would have trampled them.  Tell this kid to take the purse off and stop whining for attention.

This thing seems blown way out of proportion.  This BC coach seems to be a jerk for what he did although I don't know all the details surrounding it.  Now this band member is stooping down to the coaches with this police investigation into battery.  I mean come on, enough people saw it so it would've be reported in the media and everyone would've seen it.  Now there is an unncessary police investigation because this kid couldn't let a stupid little thing go.  Both sides need to grow up.

I note that he was a center in college (R.I.), so he probably stands over 6'6" and since he is not playing has fattened up to a minimum of 220. The band member unless he is above average is probably a lot less soaking wet and stretched out. Appears like Bonzie Colson was on some kind of power trip. Merely glaring at the student would have sent him packing. Nice to see that BC lost the game if this is how they carry themselves.

The band member probably was on the court, but it was BEFORE THE GAME.  In many college arenas, it's normal for band members, and even students who have seats near the front, to be allowed on the court before the game, especially the sidelines.  Even if the band member was not allowed on the court, that's clearly not a justification for battery by a coach.

I like your train of thought.  The next time someone from another department is wondering around in my office when they shouldn't be, I'm going to go over and give them a nice hard slam to the front.  I'll probably couple that with a "Get the **** out of my office".

When HR comes to fire me, I can just tell them, "shoving the person out of the way is hardly Battery. Grow up...."  I'm sure that will clear it right up.

Once again, I find this year in college sports especially distasteful.  Part, though for from all, of the reason is how accusations are made without the absolute facts to back them up.  There used to be laws that protected individuals from innuendo.    Please refrain from printing this form of @%&&*^* (expletive deleted) jounalism.

If he's stuck between the media table and basketball team as he said he was, then he's probably not ON the court, just on the sidelines, and he's trying to get back to his spot in the stands without going onto the court itself. In any case, it's never appropriate for a coach/teacher/professor/administrat

or to put his/her hands on a student in a forceful manner.
