Dear Gary (on a change in the Monday Look Back)

Here's Tuesday's Dear Gary ...
Dear Gary: I think I like that you are turning into a politically correct p-ssy. In fact, in your honor I changed the name of the 'Top 10 people I would like to kill' list to 'Top 10 people who should be put at the end of the list of people I want to live'. Nice job.
And, yes, I know exactly what you're talking about.
As you obviously noticed, I changed the "Player who should lose his scholarship" category in the Monday Look Back to "Player who does not deserve extra benefits," which might make me exactly what you claim. The truth is that I got into a pretty heated back-and-forth email exchange with a relative of one of the players whose scholarship I "took" this season, and I just decided it wasn't worth it. I mean, I was never honestly suggesting somebody should lose his scholarship for a bad weekend any more than I was suggesting somebody deserved extra benefits for a good weekend, and the regular readers understood. But what I realized during this exchange is that not every reader is a regular reader, and if you happened to read a column on a random Monday with me suggesting your grandson should have his scholarship taken because he committed 11 turnovers, well, I can see how that might come off as an a-hole move if you weren't familiar with me or what I do.
So I changed it.
It's the same concept, just a different way of delivering it.
But I'd like to reserve the right to take a kid's scholarship, if you don't mind.
Never know when I'll have to get raw on an 18-year-old freshman who can't shoot or dribble.
