The OSU 'point guard' turned it over 10 times

Evan Turner's second career triple-double was way different than his first -- this one coming in the form of 23 points, 11 rebounds and 10 turnovers during Ohio State's 77-73 loss to North Carolina. Seriously, Turner turned it over 10 times, which is both remarkable and unacceptable. And though I'd still take him on any team I coached -- hey, I'm not stupid; the dude is super talented -- it became obvious once and for all Thursday night that Turner isn't playing point guard because he's a great point guard as much as he's playing point guard because he has to play point guard.

Ohio State has nobody else.

And while I suppose, deep down, I've always known that, it was easy to trick myself into thinking otherwise after watching Turner destroy Alcorn State and James Madison in the Buckeyes' first two games. Against those opponents, he looked great. But what many failed to realize (myself included) is that Turner would've looked great against Alcorn State and James Madison regardless of whether he played point guard or center or somewhere in between; he's just on a different level in terms of talent, capable of dominating at any position against that sort of opposition. But when Turner played point guard against similarly gifted guys for the first time Thursday night, the result was a performance most memorable for how he battled foul trouble and continuously gave the ball away.

It was rough.

It was not what I expected.

From Superman to Evan Turnover in a span of 40 minutes.

Sloppy game, and as an earlier posts stated "a very beatable UNC team" everyone is very beatable in Nov, goofball, geeez as if Arizona would do any better? I will take the win in Nov. against #15 this early in the year, you better gets us early or maybe sometime this year because the next 4 years we will be stupid good, I think we become pretty good in march.

What hype are you talking about for OSU? This years roster has one McDonalds all american(Buford), they basically have a roster with a PF and 4 2 guards. Next year we get a balanced class that actually has forwards and a PG on it. WIth the loss of a scholarship because of academic issues created by the 5 one and dones in the last 3 years OSU has zero depth. They will be a 20-25 win team with a slim chance of making the sweet 16. If we can just keep TUrner for one more year than the addition of two future McDonalds all americans to this group gives them a chance to be special, not this year though.

I believe the same type of stat was accumulated yesterday by Scottie Reynolds but they still pulled out a win. How about some props for Jon Scheyer who even last year had an amazing Assist to Turnover ratio and is off to a good start this year.

I thought I just posted under this thread but nowhere to be found? Hmmmmmmm....Guess I will summarize....
I am very surpprised at OSU's lack of a PG as well as the disappoiinting performance on the National TV Stage against a very beatable NOrth Carolina squad....I would have loved to see the Tarheels go down early in the season & shut Dick Vitale up for once....With so much parity this year, I'm hoping that our young ARIZONA WILDCATS can make some noise in the Maui Invitational & upset Wisconsin & whoever else gets in our path....Looking forward to a very exciting year in College Hoops...!

I am surprised that with all of that talent OSU has stocked up on, there is not a serviceable Point Guard?

I bought into the hype about OSU before tonight (at least for this game)....disappointing loss & performance in fromt of a national tv audeience against a storied program that we all would have lked to have seen fall early in the season....Seems like there is alot of parity early on this year & some of these 5 Star Youth-laden teams have alot of development to do before they play to their potential/hype out of hish school....Looking forward to the first round of tournaments this fall....Namely, the Maui Invitational w/ my ARIZONA WILDCATS needing to prove themselves against a solid Wisconsin team...
