It's official: Nobody wants Lance Stephenson

Just hours after Greivis Vasquez announced he is returning to Maryland for his senior season, the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Barker reported that the Terrapins are no longer pursuing Class of 2009 standout Lance Stephenson.

This is worth noting because last month Stephenson's father said it was down to Arizona and Maryland.

But Arizona's Sean Miller hasn't been interested in weeks.

And now Maryland is out of the equation, too.

Which means Stephenson almost certainly holds the McDonald's All-American record for public shuns. Honest to God, I'm not sure there's ever been such a radioactive talent in the history of college basketball recruiting. On one hand, it's hilarious. But on the other hand, it's just sad and shameful that the Stephenson family allowed things to get to a point where countless colleges are so worried about a possible NCAA investigation that they don't believe it's worth it to take a consensus top 10 prospect.

Born ready for what, exactly?

A year overseas?

Junior college?

Man, I tell you, some irresponsible adults have sure messed up this kid's immediate future.

Like I said, sad and shameful.

I think I read somewhere that Sonny thought it was too late for Lance to go oversea's. If that's the case, bummer for this kid. But get rid of the rule. I guess it's going to be on Sean Miller to decide if he wants to make the tourney and extend the streak to 26. How about Florida International with Isiah?

LMAO at bornready.tv........what a bunch of idiots.....devoted dad, huh? Yea, devoted to living large off his kid.....and what is with the #1-ranked player assertion? I haven't seen a single poll, aside from the Stephenson Poll, that ranks him there. Mark my words; there will be trouble not far down the road for this kid.

Good for Maryland even if it's only because Vazquez is coming back. Gary Williams is better than that and I'm glad to hear that he's finally realized that Stephenson isn't worth the frustration. If you've ever seen this kid play you know that he would be a constant headache for any coach. He's one of those guys who complains if he doesn't get a call. He doesn't get back and he stands there with his arms raised in the air...it's even worse than Lebron, and like Lebron his jumper is less than consistent. Parrish wrote an article earlier that stated it would be better for everyone if this kid went over seas or a junior college and I couldn't agree more. The 1 and done system is a joke but this kid even attending a 4 year university is a bigger joke.

Lance you better sign yourself an agent or talk to Sonny Vaccaro because he has the ties overseas to find you a professionaly team that will sign you for a year before making you eligible for the NBA Draft next June because you are not going to play NCAA ball this year. This is another sad day because he can ball, he would make any Top 25 team better with the right coach and situation. Instead he is stuck with nothing to do because of his past. What a shame, to bad for Lance Stephenson.

He's barely ever been outside of Coney Island. Not to mention that he would throw a hissy fit at European coaches that will sit a younger, more talented player and play more experienced guys instead.
