This is no longer about money.  Memphis beat or exceeded Kentucky's offer.  The supporters absolutely stepped up.  Question is whether or not Cal wants to go to a storied University, or create a storied university.  30 years ago, Duke was not mentioned in the great bball conversation.  Today they are.  What is the common denominator between the great bball universities?  One coach stayed a long time and won.  UCLA has Wooden, Kentucky has Rupp, NC has Smith, Indiana has Knight, Kansas has Fogg, Kentucky has Rupp.  Name them all, they all have one thing in common.  The reason Duke is now in that conversation is Kryscheski(sp). Great coach, winning tradition over time. 

If Cal by some miracle decides to stay at Memphis, he could create his own legacy, not follow those that are already established.  They dont call it Rupp arena because he lost yanno.  And they dont call it Pitino arena either.

they are offering him stock in fed ex to stay at memphis also they have matched uks offer and with the bonus is a better, higher paying, contract then uk offered him

this is just crazy and no matter what happens coach cal will be a very very very rich man whenever he makes he makes his announcment wether he is leaving or staying

 Whats Big Blue gonna do if he dont come? He is thinking alfully hard and should. Donovan thought about it, Izzo, Barnes. they all thought about it. But nobody wants to put up with all the crap about Big Blue. They have seen it without being on UahK's bench. I dont think he's coming!!!Who's Next?( The Who)

I think it's laughable that he was UK's first choice after dropping Gillispie two years in. Calipari is probably one of the best recruiters in the country, but I also believe he's one of the most over-rated coaches in basketball. He NEVER gets the job done. Never. Should have last year - there was really no excuse as to why Memphis was not crowned King. Conference USA wasn't even as good as the SEC with the crap year the SEC had.

Stay in Memphis John, seriously, think of your family - your children who are students at the university and a nearby high school. Stay there. Please.

mayne you hit it right on the point, memphis needs to do everythang to keep Cal esp since they could be having the top 1or 2 recruiting class coming in 09. Cal can recruit and if he gets the kentucky job kentucky should become a powerhouse again in a couple of years. until memphis gets in a tougher conference they wont be taken seriously and since the big east ravaged the c-usa and got 'ville, and Cincy memphis is stuck playing in a weak conference. if cal goes memphis bball team wont be the same for year to come, esp since they wont be getting the talent that cal was bringing into the team. also it doesnt help that kentucky is willing to dig deep in the pockets to pay cal to come over to ky,but if i was memphis i would step up because if cal goes there goes memphis annually winning 30 games a year and making it to the sweet 16.

if cal does sign to ky then the big blue nation could be back with the elites in a couple years esp if some of the memphis recruits dip and try to go to ky.

Mike Anderson would be my 3rd choice.  He's definetly good, and would be a great fit.  Question is, would he come?  Not sure myself, he's got a pretty good gig up there in Missouri. 

 the only thing that kills me isnt calipari coming to ky he is a top notch coach its coachs and players selling out for big money nba scouts attend ncaa games like sharks patrolling the waters no pride any more only greed
