Xavier Henry's signed national letter of intent with Memphis features a clause that grants the McDonald's All-American a full release if John Calipari is not the school's coach when he is scheduled to enroll, a source familiar with the wording told CBSSports.com on Monday.

The source said Derrick Rose and Tyreke Evans had similar clauses in their letters of intent.

What does this mean for Memphis?

It means Henry would be released without conditions if Calipari leaves for Kentucky, and there would be nothing preventing Henry from following Calipari to the SEC.

Memphis would release Henry if Calipari leaves

It sure sounds like Xavier and C.J. Henry will announce early this week that they will be attending .  Xavier has not had a chance to discuss their intentions with Coach Self... but, will do so later today when he gets his release from  today.  Coach Self could not talk about the situation over the weekend at the Final Four, but did say he expects the 2009 class to be better than the Fab 5 of .  There has been no talk of them going to  at all.  NOw, all Kansas has to figure out is how they are going to fit these guys on the roster.  Will any players transfer?  You have to figure someone will... considering there will be very little playing time for guys like  and ... but, time will tell.  And, what will happen with  and ... will they stay at Kanssas for another chance at a Championship?  Could be an exciting couple days for KU fans accross the country.

DCN88, there os no way any those guys will end up at Kansas.  Xavier Henry committed to Memphis for two reasons: Calipari and the NBA.  The minute Calipari bolts for Kentucky, Henry will be a Wildcat.  As for John Wall, he top three right now are Memphis (with Calipari), Duke, and Baylor, Kansas not among them.  Memphis was going to be his choice before the Calipari fiasco and Wall was quoted as saying, "This can only help Duke."  In all likelyhood, John Wall will follow Calipari to Kentucky next year.

Wrong again Duke boy.

Xavier chose Memphis over KU not because of Cal, because his BROTHER went there.

With Xavier and CJ now both saying they want to go to KU looks like you are retarded once again.

Point is, Xavier will not be going to UK.

Cousins too may not go to UK. Wall might still go to UK but he MAY be the only one that ends up there and he may well end up at your school. From the looks of things that I have read, Wall felt really comfortable at Duke, so much so that he didnt even need an official visit, he'd seen enough from his unofficial visit and came away impressed.

UK will still be a great team with Meeks, Patterson and Orton coming in AND a better coach guiding those boys. Cal will get their defense up to snuff in addition to their already pretty impressive offensive firepower. UK will win teh SEC next year even if not one of those recruits sign with Kentucky.

Meanwhile, bank on it, Xavier AND CJ will be Kansas Jayhawks.

And Duke Fan,

Henry was not deciding between Calipari and KU. It was between as I just mentioned "playing with his brother at Memphis" and "going to KU where his dad played".

Please tell me where Kentucky fits into that scenario.

DCN,

while I would like this to happen, it's simply not possible.

KU is hamstringed on scholarships right now (only 13 to offer). We can get only one or two more recruits at most. To do this would require a few things though...

1. Morningstar/Reed (can't remember which is on scholarship) would have to relinquish theirs

2. Quintrell Thomas (currently the #4 big man) in my opinion (aka gut feeling) will seek a transfer.

Our only graduating seniors are walk-ons and not scholarship guys.

Johnson and Robinson are already committed.

KU is the leader for Stephenson

Henry will now decide b/w Calipari and KU (his initial choice was b/w KU where his parents graduated and Memphis where his brother plays). His brother will not be going to UK, so I think KU's stock may have gone up.

Wall, I think Baylor and UK are much higher on his list than KU, plus with Sherron returning and Taylor a solid back-up we don't need a PG.

My gut is telling me our freshman class will be Orton, Hood, Cousins and either Wall or Henry, but not both. Wall would be my first guess, because he is unencumbered.

Cousins has already pretty much agreed to come to Kentucky.  A local newsman called both and left messages.  Someone from Cousins' number called back and said "see you in Lexington...".

I'm a jayhawk, born and raised. I would love to see a fab five at KU but it wont happen. KU is only losing two seniors. Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich have the possibility of going pro but would greatly benefit from one more year at KU. I dont see Aldrich going at all. There was an article in the newspaper here in KC about the Aldrich family situation. And both of his parents want him to do whats best for him and not for the family because they can manage. I see Aldrich staying put in Lawrence. And it sounds like Collins wants to come back if Aldrich plans to come back. I dont think either of them are lottery picks this year and thats sad seeing how week this years draft will be compared to the more recents ones.

So if both are back then KU will only have two scholarships to offer which they have already given out. Morningstar and his family have said that they would give up the scholarship Brady has if it means getting another really good player. We've signed Johnson and Robinson and only see KU getting one more player.

And even if Aldrich and Collins would go early, we had the number 2 recruiting class from last year that would have a few players getting the starting role first. (one of the twins and tyshawn taylor started for the jayhawks already as freshman).

Wonder how happy Tyreke Evans is that Henry can get out of Memphis scot-free, but he can't.

Think right now he might be regretting not going to Villanova?

Tyreke is likely losing his coach...

By all accounts, he wasn't planning on staying anyway, as he is projected to be a lottery pick in the Draft.  With respect to the future plans of one Tyreke Evans, Calipari's decision is a moot point.
