MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Billy Donovan is staying at Florida.

A source close to Florida told CBSSports.com that Donovan will not be a candidate for any college job that is open or might open later this offseason, Kentucky included. An official statement is expected later Friday.

Bruce Pearl is a putz.  He always has been.  I hated him at USI and I hate him even more at Tennessee.  He personally turned me off of UT basketball.

That's too bad. Bruce Pearl was looking forward to owning KY the way he now owns Florida.

Stephenson may very well end up at Kansas. He stated earlier this year that he wanted to play for Memphis, but Calipari told him that he didn't want him. Reportedly, he said he would walk on to the Tigers, but I am sure that he has changed his mind. Calipari will probably not be interested in Kentucky at this point and KY would have to pay alot of money to Memphis to get him out of that contract. Since Donovan has issued a denial, I expects Calipari and Izzo to do the same shortly.

While I know this is still early in the game, if Donovan is a no, and Calipari were to take the Kentucky job, what might be the impact on Memphis' fantastic recruiting class? As a KU fan I'm keenly aware of a certain wing currently commited to Memphis (even though signs may be pointing to Stephenson coming to Lawrence) that was high on our list. I need thoughts Parrish!

I understand the problem Kentucky has, but this isn't problem that can be fix in a year or two,  It's going to take the AD to hire a good coach but a great recruiter and to leave him alone for 3 year's not 2 year's like they did Bill.  And the AD is just as responsible and the coach Bill didn't that program's style Look My Man Rick Pittino come along once in a blue moon and he is at my school the VILLE and he isn't going anywhere let get that straight.  You ran Tubby out of there and all he did is win a Championship and get you to the tounranment and ran a pretty good program, but the AD need's hire a coach and let him alone and check in on him in 3 year's then you decide if he is going to make it and Kentucky.  And stop trying to get these transplant I think Ford would be a good fit and the people love him and would more understanding if he doesn't win every game so give him a chance.

No shock.  All of the money, none of the pressure.  Why leave?  He's built a nice program and has nothing to prove.  I don't blame him.
